SUMMARY:Heritage Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Heritage Fest is Baker’s annual celebration of the people\, stories\, and everyday history that shaped Fallon County — from early homesteaders and railroads to living traditions still passed down today. \n\n\n\nHosted at the O’Fallon Historical Museum\, the day features live music\, local vendors\, wagon and train rides\, hands-on historical activities\, games and crafts for kids\, and interactive exhibitions throughout the museum grounds. Families are encouraged to explore\, learn\, and participate at their own pace\, making Heritage Fest a true all-ages event. \n\n\n\nIn 2026\, Heritage Fest also looks outward as the nation celebrates America’s 250th birthday. While the country reflects on two and a half centuries of history\, Baker celebrates its own milestones — 118 years as a community and 113 years as Fallon County. Heritage Fest highlights how national history is built from local stories like ours: ordinary people\, small towns\, hard work\, resilience\, and creativity. \n\n\n\nWith a free will offering lunch\, opportunities to connect with local organizations\, and activities designed to be both educational and fun\, Heritage Fest invites residents and visitors alike to celebrate where we come from — and why local history still matters.

SUMMARY:WaterWorks Art Museum Traveling Collection
DESCRIPTION:The O’Fallon Historical Museum is pleased to once again host the WaterWorks Art Museum Traveling Collection throughout the month of July. \n\n\n\nThis rotating exhibition features a curated selection of works from WaterWorks Art Museum in Miles City’s annual juried exhibit\, showcasing local\, regional\, and national artists working in a variety of styles and mediums. The collection offers visitors a chance to experience contemporary art within the historic setting of the Museum\, creating a thoughtful contrast between past and present. \n\n\n\nThe Traveling Collection is especially meaningful for our community because it brings museum-quality artwork to Baker\, expanding access to the arts and exposing visitors to artists and perspectives they may not otherwise encounter. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit is on display during regular Museum hours and pairs well with summer programming such as Art Camp and Baker Art Walk\, making it a natural stop for both residents and visitors during one of the busiest seasons of the year.

SUMMARY:Montana Conversations: Montana’s Poet Laureate with Allen Morris Jones
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 10 • 2:30 PMO’Fallon Historical Museum – Baker\, MontanaFree & open to the public \nJoin us at the O’Fallon Historical Museum for a special Montana Conversations program featuring Montana Poet Laureate Allen Morris Jones. \nAn accomplished storyteller across multiple literary forms — including novels\, children’s books\, personal essays\, and poetry — Jones explores how stories shape our understanding of ourselves and our communities. \nDuring this engaging hour-long presentation\, Jones will share his personal journey toward discovering the essential elements of storytelling. The program includes readings from his autobiographical poetry\, insights into how narratives emerge from everyday life\, and guided prompts inviting participants to reflect on and begin telling their own stories. \nWe live surrounded by stories. They tell us who we are\, where we come from\, and where we might be going. Some stories unite us as communities\, while personal stories shape our sense of self. \nFunding for the Montana Conversations program is provided by Humanities Montana through grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities\, Montana’s Cultural Trust\, the Heyneman Foundation\, and private donations.
